Assistant Softball Coach
A former student and softball player at Holmes, Mandy Clark-Walker returns to her alma mater to assume the position of assistant softball coach. Walker is entering her third season for Holmes Community College.Walker joins Ricky Casey's staff after spending five seasons as a head coach at the high school level, where she had a .500 record.
Walker's duties include coaching the outfielders, assisting with the offense, overseeing the team managers, summer camp coordination, and maintaining team statistics as well as opponents' scouting reports. She also assists in administrative duties, such as recruiting, scheduling, and monitoring the academic progress of the softball players. Other responsibilities for Walker include keeping in touch with softball alumni for the purpose of organizing the annual softball alumni game during homecoming weekend.
Academically for the college, Mandy teaches classes under the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation department. She specializes in teaching the First Aid and CPR/AED class after receiving her instructor certification from the American Red Cross. Mandy also teaches online courses for the Holmes e-Learning department. As well as being a teacher, Mandy is responsible for being an academic advisor in the health related professions major.
Walker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Mississippi in 2001 and a Master of Sports Science degree in Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in 2006.
