Forest Hill's Geonna Marshall signs with Southwest Lady Bears basketball

Lady Bears women's basketball head coach Brent Harris has signed Forest Hill High School's Geonna Marshall to a scholarship for the 2019-20 season.

As a senior for the Lady Patriots, Marshall averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. During her time with the team, she helped them to two district championships, two post-season berths and numerous tournament titles.

Lady Patriots head coach Charles Moore said Marshall is "a hardworking, fun loving, dedicated player. She is a kid at heart so she loves to play around. But, when it's time to go to work, she will focus and get the job done. The one thing I love about Geonna is that she is loyal to her word."

"I really watched her elevate her level of work and dedication each year in my program," Moore continued. "She has a strong support system with her family so her confidence is always there. I will truly miss this kid."

Looking at Marshall's future in Summit, Moore said Lady Bears fans can "expect a player who will thrive in a family-like environment, a player who is willing to give you 100% effort to win and a player who will excel academically."

"Geonna is a very talented, versatile player," said Harris. "She can play in the post or stretch the defense to the three-point line. She had a strong motor and should be a force on the offensive glass."
