JC’s Trammell named MACJC Player of the Year; 10 Lady Bobcats receive Region 23, MACJC honors

ELLISVILLE – Jones College freshman shortstop LP Trammell (Germantown) tops a list of 10 Lady Bobcats to receive postseason honors for the 2019 season.

Trammell was named the 2019 MACJC Player of the Year after helping Jones to a 43-8 record and the conference regular season top spot.

Trammell batted .429 with 21 home runs and 62 RBIs. She led the state and Region 23 and was third in NJCAA Division II in home runs. She was tied for 12thnationally in RBIs. The Jones leadoff batter also had 18 doubles and 10 stolen bases.

Trammell and sophomore first baseman McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) were named All-Region 23. 

Sikes, a two-year starter, led the team with a .449 batting average. She had 17 home runs, which was tied for ninth nationally, and 61 RBIs. She was tied for 15thnationally in RBIs. Sikes was All-MACJC first-team in 2018.

Sophomore pitcher Hallie Donald (Mooreville), sophomore catcher Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin), freshman centerfielder Kayla Collins (East Central) and sophomore third baseman Rebekah DiLavore (Ocala, Florida) were named All-MACJC first-team.

Donald was 25-2 with a 2.02 earned run average. She led the state and region and was tied for third nationally in wins. She had 104 strikeouts and allowed 143 hits in 132.0 innings pitched. She had 26 walks. Offensively, Donald batted .333 with six home runs and 32 RBIs. She was an All-Region 23 performer as a freshman.

Denton batted .404 with two home runs and 21 RBIs. She was All-MACJC second-team as a freshman.

Collins posted a .393 batting average with eight home runs, 37 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.

DiLavore batted .340 with eight home runs and 39 RBIs.

Freshman Raylen Blackwell (St. Patrick), freshman Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick), sophomore Mollie Singleterry (Wayne County and freshman Lauren Stringer (Taylorsville) were named All-MACJC second-team. 

Raylen Blackwell batted .343 with 36 RBIs and 10 doubles. Raven Blackwell batted .333 with five home runs, 29 RBIs and 14 doubles. Singleterry batted .337 with three home runs and 31 RBIs.

Stringer was 14-4 with a 2.45 ERA. She had 118 strikeouts in 102.2 innings. She gave up 80 hits and issued 14 walks.
