Pearl River’s Elizabeth Taggard lands NJCAA honor

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River slugger Elizabeth Taggard (Picayune) has been on a tear as of late.

As if hitting in 14 straight games and helping to lead the Lady Wildcats into the MACJC Tournament wasn't enough, Taggard was named the league's Player of the Week on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Taggard picked up another honor when she was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week.

The latest recognition comes after the sophomore first baseman led PRCC to a 4-2 week by hitting .714 with four home runs, six doubles, 17 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

On the year, Taggard is hitting .460 with a .547 on-base percentage and .935 slugging. Taggard leads Pearl River with 23 doubles and 51 RBIs and is second with 12 homers.

The Lady Wildcats opened the MACJC Tournament at host Jones College on Wednesday.
