POPLARVILLE — The Pearl River rodeo team participated in its fourth event of the season this past weekend, competing at Southern Arkansas in Magnolia, Arkansas.
Sophomore Carli Hodges (Summerdale, Alabama) stole the show again, placing first in barrel racing with 165 total points.
Hodges performance helped lead the PRCC rodeo team to fifth place in the women's category.
"Carli has carried the torch for our women's team," coach Robbie Shaw said. "She has been a true asset this season and you know she is going to give you 110 percent."
Shaw pointed out that his team is still trying to approach competition with a better mental state.
"They are not looking at these events like just another rodeo yet and that is something we have to get them adjusted to," he said. "They put a lot of pressure on themselves."
The next event for the PRCC rodeo team will be Nov. 17 when they travel to Murray, Kentucky, to compete at Murray State.
