ICC basketball sweeps Lawson State to open season

FULTON, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College basketball teams swept Lawson State (Ala.) Community College to open the season at the Davis Event Center on Thursday.

Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) had a game-high 29 points in the Lady Indians' (1-0) 78-57 win over the Lady Cougars (0-1). Tabreea Gandy (Starkville) added 17 points and a game-high eight assists in her collegiate debut.

Travonta Doolittle (Hughes, Ark.) scored a game-high 16 points in the Indians' (1-0) 70-62 win over the Cougars (0-1). Cartisco Brown (Indianola) added 15 points while Ma'Darius Hobson (Houlka) had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Anfernee Diggins (Greenville) added 10 points in the win.

ICC will travel to Baton Rouge (La.) Community College on Friday after hosting national powerhouse Shelton State (Ala.) Community College on Monday.
