PERKINSTON — The No. 1 Bulldogs will be aiming to pick up two wins at the same time Monday and Tuesday when it hosts the MGCCC Fall Invitational at Windance Country Club in Biloxi.
There will be five MACJC schools competing for a tournament-within-a-tournament title, as well. There will be 12 schools altogether from as far away as Illinois and Missouri and including one four-year school.
"It's always good to see different schools and play with different people," Gulf Coast Tommy Snell said. "It's good for the kids to meet other kids because really that's what it's about. Meeting and competing and having a good time."
The Mississippi University for Women is the four-year school which will be in Biloxi. The Owls men's team is participating in its first season. John A. Logan, a community college in Carterville, Ill., and Rend Lake, from Ina, Ill., will be making the trip from the Midwest. North Central Missouri, from Trenton, will also be playing.
Rend Lake is a perennial participant in the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament, and North Central Missouri plays in Division I.
Gulf Coast has won its first three tournaments of the year, including the last MACJC event by 33 shots. The Bulldogs are familiar with the Windance layout, which is part of its practice rotation of courses.
"It's good. Everybody likes it," Snell said. "The greens will be ultra-fast. This rain is gonna get out of here, so in three days it will dry up. It drains well, so the greens will be perfect. The whole golf course will be perfect, really."
Daily scoring will be available at http://results.golfstat.com//public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=16298.
