PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Cheer Team will hold tryouts for its 2019-20 season on March 22.
The team, which competed in its third national championships in January, will hold the event at 3:30 p.m. at South Elite Cheer, 329 First Street North, Wiggins. The tryout fee is $25.
There will be three open practices for candidates to attend, also at South Elite Cheer. The practices will be at 6 p.m. on March 7, 14 and 21.
Participants are required to fill out a tryout packet and return it by March 21. Included are an application, three recommendation forms, a liability/consent form and GPA verification form.
Men are required to wear navy- or gold-colored solid polo-type shirt and solid shorts. No jewelry is allowed.
Women are required to navy- or gold-colored sports bra or sports tank top with spandex-type shorts. Hair should be half-up with a bow, with game-day makeup and only pearl earrings. Tall white socks and cheer shoes should be worn.

The stunt requirements are: Be able to fly, base or back spot Toss Extension/Pencil Down, Toss Liberty/Pop Off, Toss Stretch/Full Down, Full Up/Pop Off, Toss Shoulder Stand.
The tumbling requirements are: Standing Tuck, Series with Tuck, Layout or Full.
